About Me

My Background

I am a special education teacher with more than 20 years experience.  I have co-taught in inclusive settings, have worked as the primary educator in self-contained classrooms and have worked hard to develop my skill set along the way.  I have extensive experience working with students with Autism, Down Syndrome, ADHD and Dyslexia.  I strive for open collaboration at all times and insist that a student's family be involved every step of the way.  Lastly, I hold a unique perspective in that I am the parent of a child with significant developmental differences.  I know what it is like to live in the world of special education. I See You and understand the struggles.

Let me help your family regain peace of mind.

My expertise

I am an Orton-Gillingham trained practitioner through the AOGPE.  I completed my Associate Level training in 2016, have completed my coursework for the subsequent level and am working towards finishing my 200 hours of practicum experience needed for the Certified Level of AOGPE Certification.  I am certified in LIPS (Lindamood Bell Phoneme Sequencing), Project Read and many, many more.  Lastly, I have extensive knowledge of Social Thinking Curriculum, Behavior Management Strategies and Differentiation of Instruction. I purposely pull from my experience base and creatively weave together a lesson that is both academically sound,

but also motivating for the student to participate in.

My Philosophy

I feel that developing a relationship with a student is integral to an effective instructional experience.  Students should 'see' and 'feel' the value of their time with an instructional tutor.  This buy-in then allows the student to fully immerse themselves into the instruction.  My goal is to not only assist a student in developing key academic gains, but also to help them become flexible learners, to establish a growth mindset regarding all the ways one can show achievement and to then

Move Forward with Confidence.

Contact Me

Every student has individual learning styles and unique educational needs. My strength is to meet children where they are at, and to partner with them to reach their fullest potential.
